• Teong Huat Medical Sdn Bhd was previously known as Teong Huat Trading Co. established in 1969 by Mr. Chen Yen Sen. At that time the company was mainly focusing on retailing & wholesaling of traditional Chinese herbs and Off-The-Counter (OTC) medical products. At one time, it was the biggest distributor of Sterling drugs products of North Malaya.

• The young generation of the Chen family was the driving force behind the expansion of Teong Huat Trading Co. In 1987, Mr. Chen Teak Huat (the elder son of Mr. Chen Yen Sen) joined the company as the Managing Director. Together with his brother & sisters, they contributed talents and new concepts which were crucial for the growth of the company.

• Another milestone for Teong Huat's establishment was venturing into the gelatin capsules trading. The gelatin capsules were imported from various Asian countries, and sold to pharmaceutical retails shops, manufacturers of OTC products, Chinese medical halls and roadside medicine peddlers. Teong Huat Trading Co. was then emerged as a prominent supplier of gelatin capsules, created a strong impact on local market.

• Concurrently, the management of Teong Huat, encouraged by the good performance of the company, entered the medical plaster business. They contracted Sales Agreement with a leading plaster manufacturer in Bangkok, NEOPLAST LTD. to produce their own line of brands specially tailored for the Malaysian market. NEOBUN and TOPPLAST were launched in 1991 and were instantly accepted by the local consumers. Eventually more than 20 plaster brands were introduced.

• In 1993, recognizing the needs to focus on Teong Huat's core business of traditional herbs and fine medicines, the management began to import Ginseng in bulk from Canada, USA and Hong Kong, sorted and graded for wholesale distribution throughout Malaysia. This new venture proved to be the most lucrative of all.

• In line with the company's expansion program, the company expanded further in dealing with the popular traditional Chinese herbs like bird's nest, Cordyceps, dear antlers and tails, Chinese Angelica root, Gastrodia tuber, Eucommia bark and Notoginseng. With Mr. Chen's experience and exposure in this field, the company was able to purchase only the best quality herbs from their respective countries to meet the ever increasing standard of local consumers.

• Today, Teong Huat is proud to be one of the TOP Malaysian distributors of Ginseng and has earned the reputation of being one the largest, most respected and dependable importer & wholesaler of many Malaysian most popular Over-the-Counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products and plasters as well as gelatin capsules and other popular Chinese herbs products.
